I had the privilege to be in the stadium tonight to watch what could possibly be your last match! We were all on the edge of our seats! You fought hard and did yourself and country proud. Such an emotional night, with many a tear .......What a True Champion!!!!

What a match! You did us all proud. Hope it’s not been too much of a strain (and brought too much pain). Had hoped to see you play in Dubai in March, but for now, get back within the tender loving care of your family. Whatever the future holds, I wish you every success. We ain’t seen the last of you - not by a long shot.

Amazing match. You had me on the edge of my seat, just as you have many times previously. If this was the last time we get to see you on a tennis court, which I truly hope it's not, then what a way to go out. You went out fighting as you've always done when others would lie down and roll over. Be proud of what achieved today and throughout your wonderful career.

You have done your country and the game of tennis proud and will surely go down as one of the greatest of all time. I am sad that you are retiring due to injury. Sometimes life's just not fair. You deserve to go out on your own terms and not through injury at your peak at aged just 31. What a great champion you are and will be sorely missed. Thank you Andy Murray

For the joy you brought into this wee tartan house in England,I will be eternally grateful Andy. You came quietly up the ranks and on to the tennis courts from the wee town of Dunblane in Scotland. You weren't quiet for long and not only did you show them all how to play tennis! You've rewritten the tennis history books and you did in style. I was watching cheering every step of the way. Every match you played was a joy. We'd never had a champion like you before who won Wimbledon twice and got Olympic gold medals. Never mind all the grand slams etc that you won. They broke the mould when they made you Andy. You're a thoroughly decent guy and a true champion. You're loved by us all the world over and you truly deserve every accolade you get now. I'm so sad it might be ending this way. I hope not. You'll be remembered as Britain's greatest sportsman. I am so glad you chose to play in my lifetime. I will never ever forget the joy of seeing win. Thank you. I wish you all the very best for the future. ..x

Another fantastic game from our Hero :D Throughout your career you've made me laugh and cry..and it's no different today except for obvious reasons. You made me weep with your instagram post just then...the stadium was so empty...you were so sad.. If only there was something we could do to help!! As Admin for the Sir Andy Murray Fan Club - I would like to send you love and respect from all of our 16k members. We are all very sad on this epic day. Although we are forever hopeful a miracle will happen so we can cheer you and your greatness again. Much

What an Utterly heroic, superhuman effort! It was match sharpness that let you down today and not conditioning or skill. If you’d had more competitive matches under your belt and a mind free of the hip pain I’ve no doubt you’d have won that match. Get the proper op now Andy and see how the recovery goes and take it from there ❤

The battle’s not over Andy. Not only are you an incredible athlete but you are also an incredibly kind and sensitive young man. In 2013 you donated your Queen’s winnings (£73,000) to the Royal Marsden, where your friend, Ross Hutchins received treatment and in 2017 you donated your Queen’s winnings (£12,000) to the families of the victims of Grenfell Tower tragedy. Like everyone else I want you to be free of pain but you know your own body best. Who would’ve thought a wee boy born in Glasgow and brought up in Dunblane into an ordinary family would achieve what you’ve done. We are so proud of you. ❤
