  • Hi Tom here and welcome to this week's Circle Line Art School drawing tutorial:
  • How to Draw a Building and a Train Track in One-Point Perspective, for this drawing
  • I'm going to use a pen, but any pen or pencil would be fine,
  • I also add some shading and some color towards the end of this drawing,
  • to subscribe to my channel Circle Line Art School and keep up to date with all of my
  • drawing challenges please click the subscribe button below, the first step in
  • this drawing is to draw a horizontal line across the middle of your page, then
  • we can add a vanishing point on the right, all parallel lines going away from
  • us will look like they meet at this one vanishing point, in one point perspective
  • everything above the horizon line, the horizontal line that we drew, we're
  • looking up at and everything below the horizontal line, we're looking down
  • at, next draw a rectangle for the front of the building, this will not be
  • distorted by perspective as we're looking straight on at it, it's not going
  • away from us, now draw the side of this building by drawing two lines to our
  • vanishing point and then we can draw another vertical
  • line between these two lines to show where the wall on the right stops, so
  • we're using our vanishing point to find these sides of a rectangle of a wall, but
  • the rectangle is distorted by perspective as it goes towards our
  • vanishing point, now we can add another horizontal line to make the flat roof
  • for this building, again using the vanishing point for the side edge of the
  • roof, but not for the horizontal line, so in this drawing all of the lines that
  • are going away from us do need to go to the vanishing point, but all of the
  • other lines need to say vertical or horizontal, all of the vertical lines are
  • parallel to the vertical edge of the paper and all of the horizontal lines
  • are parallel to the top and the bottom of the paper, and also parallel to the
  • horizon line in the middle of our page, I hope you enjoyed drawing along with this

The first step is to draw a horizontal line halfway up your page, next draw a across on the right of your horizontal line, this will be the vanishing point for this 1-point perspective drawing. All parallel lines going towards the vanishing point will look like they meet at the vanishing point, if you extended the lines all the way to the horizon.
