The system, which originally formed in Australia's area of responsibility last Thursday, passed over Vanuatu on Monday as a category 5 cyclone with sustained winds reaching over 200km/h and gusts reaching up to 300km/h.

We've noticed a few of you are digging into your photo archives to post some weather gems from the past now we're all enjoying the great indoors.

Josh Beames Photography recently dug up this misty memory taken at the Gibson Steps near the Twelve Apostles on Victoria's Great Ocean Road last year. Those light rays through the sea mist are actually moon beams from a rising full moon.

The mist...

If you're feeling a little grey, we have some good news—today is 'Find A Rainbow Day' which will put a little colour back into your day!

So, what are the perfect ingredients for finding a rainbow? Of course, you need sunlight and water (rain, spray or fog), but the right angle of the sun is also essential to see a rainbow. For rainbows to be visible in the sky, the sun must be behind the...

Did you get rain at your place last night? Di Bowles, a dairy farmer in northern Victoria, woke up to find puddles and 17mm in the rain gauge this morning. WOO HOO!

The upper-level low that brought rainfall to Victoria overnight delivered isolated 24 hour totals of up to 70 mm in North East Victoria. It's now tracking south with 107mm at Killymoon in northeast Tasmania since 9am. And...

If you take a look at our satellite viewer now, you can see a possible 'morning glory cloud' in the Gulf of Carpenteria, formed by a 'Gulf Line'.

The phenomena is usually formed, in the right conditions, by the interaction between sea breezes on both sides of Cape York Peninsula, which often results in a line of cloud. As night falls, the air over land cools and descends while an inversion...
