I teach CPR at work and have also taught it to school children. Should be taught at school as part of the curriculum. It’s a lifesaver Call emergency services ,Press on the chest ,Rescue breaths. Kids remembered it easily that way

Definitely think everyone should do a first aid course. I recently experienced about 6 people stand around a person that had been hit by a bus and not 1 of them could help luckily a doctor had been passing and took over from me .

I think CPR and first aid should most deafeningly be thought in every school without question. My husband had his first heart attack in 2010 and thank God a friend of our son just happened to be there and took my husband straight to hospital in his car. If Colm hadn't have been there, I wouldn't like to think of the out come God Bless him and his family. Anyway I took CPR course after that.

Thus brought a tear. I paid for lily to do a Red Cross baby and child first aid course recently with this in mind and the fact that she's now babysitting. I think it's an essential skill going into adulthood. Will do the same with the twins.

My mom's a nurse and also a first aid instructor it really is true you never know when you will need it. Whether you consider it bad luck or good there's been multiple occasions she's had to either help someone choking or give CPR, upwards of five at least. One being at a diner and another being while we were on vacation I can vividly remember. I choked on a sour patch kid as well when I was younger, momma saved my life. These things people pass by because they assume they'll never need it or the chances of them ending up in this situation are slim, but I just think if my mom for instance as a perfect example if she hadn't known those situations all could have turned out horribly worse.

I must say this: six years ago my husband was brought out of the lake in Divonne still alife and the public beach team didn't know the basics of heart massage...he died...

Very good message... BUT never forget that calling the emergency medical response in your area (911, etc...) is the single most important part of responding to a situation like this. CPR is is a life maintaining skill, it's purpose is to keep basic blood and air circulation within the body, and it's rarely the part that resuscitates the victim.
